Our 1st Annual Ballet Brunch was a true success. We had a great turn out from parents and friends and a very special guest, Kathy Konopka, President of the Denver Ballet Guild, stopped by as well. Mr. Taylor taught a wonderful Master Class for all to see. The food was delicious!
Congratulations to Alex and Olivia who both placed in this year's YAGP Competition:
Alex Gray - Top 12, Pre Competitive Division
Olivia Hamilton - 3rd Place, Contemporary Junior Division
Olivia Hamilton - 2nd Place, Classical Ballet Junior Division
Denver Ballet Theatre Academy of Dance is proud to announce that David Taylor has accepted the position of School Director.
David Taylor has been professionally involved in the Colorado dance community for the past forty - two years. He began choreographing in 1976 during the course of a twelve-year dance career, and since then has created over one hundred original works. In 1979, he founded the David Taylor Dance Theatre, for thirty-two years one of the Rocky Mountain Region’s most well known and respected dance organizations, and Denver’s original contemporary ballet company.
As the principal choreographer for 27 years, Mr. Taylor’s unique creative focal point became a fascination with the ritual of ancient cultures, metaphysical concepts, and multi-media collaborations which served to put DTDT on the map nationwide as a company to watch.
Mr. Taylor currently teaches dance history at CSU in Fort Collins. He also conducts workshops on sacred dance for various statewide and national organizations and continues to be in demand as a Summer Intensive guest teacher for ballet programs throughout Colorado.
Mr. Taylor founded his new company, the Zikr Dance Ensemble, in the summer of 2009. The company’s roster includes some of the finest ballet-trained dancers from various companies along the Front Range and Zikr has already presented successful performances in Denver, Fort Collins, Boulder, Carbondale, Grand Junction, St. Paul, Minnesota and Long Beach, California to critical acclaim.

Thank you to all of our incredible parents and kids who volunteered at the Wildlife Experience on Saturday! I see a couple of the girls grew fangs as well. The Corps de Ballet is getting more and more dangerous. :-))
