In an effort to create a more professional environment, while remaining supportive of all our parents and students, DBT has initiated a two-track system of classes beginning August 20, 2018. This new system will allow families a wider choice regarding their child’s participation in the DBT program. We realize that not all families and students can commit to the total number of required classes in their level (now called the Pre-Professional Track), but have progressed to a certain level of technical accomplishment equal to their peers. Those students can now choose their own degree of participation within their level and still take class alongside their friends. These students will then take DBT classes as part of the Academy Track Program. For example, if a student is placed in Level 8 and he/she cannot attend all the weekly required classes at that level, they may participate as an Academy Track student in as many Level 8 classes as they can fit into their schedule. However, Pre-Professional Track students will be rewarded with priority casting in both The Nutcracker and the DBT Spring ballet, and pay a lower hourly rate for their classes. If students need to change tracks during the school year they may do so but need to provide a month’s notice to the DBT Administration, and once a change of tracks occurs, the rules governing each track will also immediately take effect.
